Watch: Video Of A Taxi Driver Beating Up An Officers Goes Viral

The taxi driver punched a metro police officer repeatedly on duty in the video shown below.

According to the council’s head of communications, Adrian Amod statement, the viral video that surfaced this week took place on August 14.

The traffic officers stopped an overloaded taxi during a roadblock.

Amod said the taxi driver was stopped by the police officer thereafter he picked up an argument with the police officers after refusing to give them his driver’s license and professional driving permit.

“Upon repeated requests for his particulars, the driver refused to provide the officer with the documents. The officer consequently attempted to arrest the driver.”

“In resisting arrest, the driver, who was also backed by one of the male occupants, attacked two of our traffic officers”, he said.

The other officers on the scene managed to arrest the taxi driver and took him to Krugersdorp police station.

The police opened a case of assault following his arrest.

“From the incident one can hear members of the public encouraging the taxi driver to beat up the officers,” said Amod.

“This we totally condemn, as it is a disregard for the law, which through law enforcement we carry out to increase road safety to the benefit of all road users, including taxi passengers.”
