Actor Zuluboy, born Mxolisi Majozi, plays the role of medic MacGyver on etv’s telenovela Durban Gen. The multipurpose actor is not new on our screens. He once played the role of Gangster Last Number on SABC 1 popular soapie Uzalo. Zuluboy was born and bred in Nutzuma, Durban North, and chose a career in music. Over his musical journey, Zuluboy performed at the Global Hip Hop Mainstage Concert in Vancouver, Canada, in 2006.
On Durban Gen, the MacGyver character is a paramedic who works at Durban General Hospital. MacGyver is a well-mannered and sometimes reckless young man who works with Baba Gumede –the role played by Sifiso Sibiya. Due to his foolishness, MacGyver is often caught in his get quick rich schemes. His heart is with “slay queen” Nurse Sne is a social media influencer who knows everything trending on social media. The two once had a one night stand together.
Onscreen, Zuluboy looks like a young man, but in real life, Mxolisi was born on the 19th of May 1976, making him 45 years in 2021. Mzansi soapie fans were surprised by the revelation of Zuluboy’s age, whom they thought was in his twenties. On Uzalo, Mxolisi played the role of gangster ‘Last number who and his uncle Amos was on a mission to take over KwaMashu from Nkunzi. Ruthless, gun-wielding and ironic Last number played a villain and hated by Uzalo fans.
Over his musical career, Mxolisi Majozi released his debut album Masihambisane – Da 1st Hip-Hop Lesson in 2006. He is currently the manager of actor Simphiwe Majozi’s music career, who plays the role of Sbu on Uzalo and his brother.
Mxolisi is so popular that he rubs shoulders with the rich and famous; recently, he met multi-millionaire Shauwn Mkhize. He threw his weight behind former Jacob Zuma when he was persecuted in July.
